"There was this series about a dog whose nickname was Boomer, and when they did that series, the network kept writing these notes, "More Boomer, More Boomer," and when we started off on St. Elsewhere, I guess my character connected with the audience, in a certain way, and the network kept writing, "More Morrison, More Morrison," and I'm not sure how appreciative the creators of the show were having the network telling them what to write, so they had a little fun with it and called the character 'Boomer.'"
